〔即時新聞／綜合報導〕美國衛生部長阿札爾（Alex Azar）曾力挺台灣參與WHO與全球衛生事務，前陣子也曾與衛福部長陳時中跨海視訊對話，預定下週將來台訪問，阿札爾今（5）日在推特發出2篇推文大讚台灣，也透露川普對台看法。
美國衛生及公共服務部（US Department of Health and Human Services）週二指出，衛生部長阿札爾計畫在未來幾天訪問台灣。這是川普自2017年上任以來首位訪台的美國內閣成員，也是自2014年時任美國總統歐巴馬派遣時任美國環境保護署（EPA）署長麥卡錫（Gina McCarthy）訪台後，首位訪台的美國現任部長級官員。
阿札爾今（5日）在推特先發表1篇推文指出，在武漢肺炎（新型冠狀病毒病，COVID-19）大流行期間以及很久之前，台灣一直是全球衛生領域透明與合作的典範，這次旅行是加強美方與台灣的經濟、公共衛生合作的機會，阿札爾隨後貼出政府新聞稿，美方認為，台灣與美國的社會和經濟具備專制體制沒有的獨特能力，能推動醫學、科學促進全球進步。
美方指出，台美英共同為全球利益努力；阿札爾隨後又在推特發文預告，未來幾天將訪問台，以傳達美國總統川普對台灣「全球健康領導地位」的支持，同時也要強調美國與台灣的共同信念，就是「自由民主的社會是保護和促進健康的最佳模式。」
