A man in China ended up with tapeworm larvae in his brain after eating a hot pot meal that was likely undercooked.
中國一名男子在吃過一頓疑似沒煮熟的火鍋後，腦部居然出現絛蟲幼蟲。
The 46-year-old man, who lives in the eastern province of Zhejiang, went to the hospital after developing neurological symptoms, including headaches, dizziness and epilepsy-like episodes of limb twitching and foaming at the mouth.
這名住在浙江省東部的46歲男子，在出現頭痛、暈眩、類似癲癇發作的四肢顫搐、口吐白沫等神經症狀後送醫。
He was diagnosed with neurocysticercosis, a parasitic disease that occurs when a person ingests microscopic eggs from a pork tapeworm （Taenia solium）. When the eggs hatch, the larvae can travel throughout the body, including to the brain, muscles, skin and eyes, where they form cysts.
他被診斷出「神經性囊尾幼蟲病」，一種因人類吃下豬肉絛蟲（有鉤絛蟲）的微粒蟲卵而發生的寄生蟲病。當這些蟲卵孵化時，幼蟲會在人體內流竄，造成腦部、肌肉、皮膚和眼睛等處的囊腫。
Doctors suspect that the man had purchased meat tainted with tapeworm larvae, and that he didn’t cook it well enough to kill those larvae.
醫師懷疑該名男子買到被絛蟲幼蟲污染的肉品，而且他沒有烹煮肉品到足以殺死這些幼蟲的溫度。
